I've always wondered what the green box was outside my aunty's house. Now I know that it's a electrical transformer that is used to step down the voltage from the high voltage in the electrical wires. It is ugly, but it serves to provide "stepped-down" voltage to several other houses on my aunty's street. Now the green metal box is no mystery to me!
